French Louis XVI/Directoire Commode

A fine Neoclassical mahogany commode of the transition period, featuring a "Petit Granit" fossiliferous marble top with projected corners. The facade is arranged with three frieze drawers above two full-width drawers, all set with shield-form brass escutcheons and geometric bail handles. The piece is flanked by fluted pilasters and terminates in tapered topie feet.
